Launching a new joint development project (JDP) to test biodegradable lubricants Skuld, together with classification society DNV GL and the marine insurers The Swedish Club, Norwegian Hull Club and Gard launch a new joint development project to test the potential influence of Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) in failures in stern tube bearings. DNV GL will oversee the detailed laboratory testing at the University of Sheffield, UK. The project has been prompted by an increase in stern tube bearing failures over recent years.
