FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin The Liberia-flagged LPG tanker Gas Lisbon was struck by an explosion and caught fire on the night of July 20–21 while sailing through Romania’s Exclusive Economic Zone in the Black Sea, around 20 nautical miles (37 km) off the Romanian coast. The vessel was en route from Alexandria, Egypt, to Reni, Ukraine, carrying more than 3,790 tonnes of propane and a crew of 17. Three crew members were injured, prompting Romanian authorities to dispatch rescue vessels and a tug to stabilize the ship and prevent any navigational hazards.
