Ship Owners Place More Newbuilding Orders in Hellenic Shipping News 28/01/2026 Shipbuilding ordering activity, but also deals in the S&P market have continued to pour in during the past week. In its latest weekly report, shipbroker Banchero Costa said that “in the bulk sector, Japan’s Kawasaki shipyard secured an order for 2 x 210,000 newcastlemax vessels from Kumiai Navigation in Singapore. The price for each vessel is $75 mln and deliveries are set for June and December 2027. In the tanker sector, Greek owner Dynacom placed an order of 4 x 306,000 dwt VLCCs to Hengli H.I. in China. No prices were disclosed and deliveries will span from mid-2028 until end-2029. DH Shipbuilding of Korea secured an order for 1 x 157,000 dwt suezmax vessel from Laskaridis Shipping in Greece. The price for the vessel is $86.2 mln and delivery is set for end2027. Korean builder Hyundai secured an order of 4 units from Greece’s Stealth Maritime. The order consists of 2 x 157,000 dwt suezmax vessels at a price of $86.5 mln each. Both will be delivered in mid-2027. The Greek owner also ordered 2 x 115,000 dwt product carriers at a price of $75 mln each, which will be delivered Q1 2029. In the container sector, Greece’s Danaos Shipping placed an order of 2 x 5,300 teu carriers to China’s Guangzhou Wenchong shipyard. Deliveries are scheduled for June and December 2026. China Merchants Energy has placed an order of 4 x 3,000 teu carriers, which will be built at Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing. The price for each vessel is $47.5 mln and all four will be delivered mid-2027. In the gas sector, Greek owner Alpha Gas placed an order of 2 x 174,000 cu.m. LNG carriers to Korea’s Hanwha Ocean. The price for each vessel is $251.5 mln and the duo will be delivered in January 2029. Turkish owner Aygaz placed an order of 1 x 93,000 cu.m. LPG carriers to Hyundai shipyard. The price is $119 mln and delivery is scheduled for Q3 2028. Transpetro of Brazil placed an order of 3 x 10,000 cu.m. LPG carriers to Zhoushan Dashenzhou in China. The price for each vessel is $55 mln and deliveries will span from late-2026 to late-2027”, Banchero Costa said. Meanwhile, in the S&P markets this week, shipbroker Xclusiv commented that “dry bulk S&P activity this week was led by an enbloc Capesize deal. The Japanese built pair “ALLY”- 186K/2005 Kawasaki and “MIKATA”- 177K/2005 Namura were reported sold enbloc for USD 37 mills. Moving down the sizes, the Kamsarmax “JAG ADITI”- 80K/2011 STX changed hands for USD 15 mills to Norwegian buyers. On the Panamax sector, the “GLOBAL BONANZA”- 75K/2011 Sasebo was sold for USD 15.3 mills basis SS/DD due, while the “KT BIRDIE”- 75K/2011 Sasebo found buyers for USD 16.5 mills. In the Ultramax sector, SPAR SHIPPING was linked with the newbuilding resales “NANTONG XIANGYU XY149” and “NANTONG XIANGYU XY150”- 64K/2026 Nantong Xiangyu at USD 36 mills each, with delivery Q3/4 2026. Further down, the “THE LOVING”- 59K/2007 Tsuneishi Cebu was sold for about USD 12 mills. Finally, the “MDM BROMO”- 54K/2007 Yangzhou Dayang changed hands for USD 8.1 mills, and the Handysize “MARIA F”- 53K/2002 Sanoyas was sold for USD 7.8 mills basis DD 09/2027”.
