FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin South Korea has stepped up efforts to shape international rules for autonomous shipping, with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries launching a new consultative body to coordinate the country’s response to the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) work on Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS). The Ministry announced on 8 September that it had established the IMO Autonomous Ships (MASS) Response Council, bringing together 20 organizations from government, shipping, shipbuilding, academia and research.
