Ulrik Andersen has emerged at Danish maritime investment firm J. Lauritzen after stepping down as chief executive of John Fredriksen-backed dry bulk player Golden Ocean Group last year. Andersen has come aboard J. Lauritzen’s vehicle, Lauritzen NexGen, which has three methanol dual-fuel kamsarmax bulkers on order at Tsuneishi Shipbuilding in Japan for delivery in 2026 and 2027. The 81,200 dwt vessels, capable of running on green methanol and biodiesel, will be among the world’s first zero-emission capable bulkers and go on charter with commodities giant Cargill for at least seven years. In June last year, Andersen announced he would be leaving Golden Ocean but remain available for the company until September. Before joining the Nasdaq-and Oslo-listed bulker owner, he served as CEO of Avance Gas and also worked at Petredec, Neu Gas Shipping and as head of the Maersk VLGC pool. In his new role, Andersen will work with J. Lauritzen in the coming months to identify growth opportunities and strategic partnerships for Lauritzen NexGen. J.
