FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin On 13 February, the Barbados-flagged general cargo vessel Deniz Akay lost power while departing the De Franceschievo pier in the port of Rijeka, Croatia, causing it to drift and allide with the historic yacht Galeb, formerly the state yacht of Yugoslav president Josip Broz Tito. The incident occurred around 8:30 pm local time. No injuries or environmental pollution were reported. Emergency services and representatives of the Rijeka Port Authority responded promptly. Alcohol tests on the crew returned negative, and inspections revealed minor hull damage to the port side of Deniz Akay and the port bow of Galeb.
