The Vancouver Fire Department reported that crews were dispatched shortly after 9 p.m. following reports of smoke and flames emanating from shredded metal stored in one of the vessel’s holds. As reported, upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke coming from an open midship hold, where cargo discharge operations were already in progress.
