Baltic Dry Index Down for 2nd Day in Dry Bulk Market , International Shipping News 17/06/2026 The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, eased for a second session on Tuesday, falling about 1.8% to 2,670 points, weighed down by the larger vessel segments. The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, dropped about 3.5% to 3,911 points; and the panamax index, which tracks vessels carrying around 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell by 1.1% to 2,266 points.
