We refer to our insurance as Legal Costs Cover (LCC) and not Freight, Demurrage and Defence (FD & D). If a Member requires legal assistance to bring or defend a claim our insurance can respond, subject to checks on merit, costs and quantum. In addition to the traditional freight and demurrage claims we handle, thanks to the wide spectrum of our membership, we also handle a range of non-traditional legal claims in jurisdictions across the world. These can include employment law disputes with crew, disputes in relation to chemicals in fishing boat catch, claims about wormwood infestation on luxury yachts etc. We have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Members and a breadth of experience to offer Members and their brokers.
