Icebreaker ship is used in extremely cold regions where thick layers of ice are formed on the surface of the water. The icy waters make the sea inaccessible for ships or boats, for e.g. the north pole region. Icebreaker ship working can be explained as the breaking of the ice sheet by its strong forepart and hull to allow other ships to ply in the region.
The concept of an ice-class or ice-breaking ship is not a new one. Ship in Ice has seen right from the 11th century. However, the technology has developed in the years following and the ship ice breaking capabilities has evolved from being constructed of plain wood ship cutting through ice to enforced icebreaker hull of modern Ice breaking class ship.
The video comprehensively shows icebreaking ships are made and their features along with icebreaker ship working.
The prime functions of an icebreaker ship nowadays include clearing the trade routes in the icy waters, especially during winters.
