Zinus to provide shore charging in Australia in Port News 04/06/2026 Norway-based shipping equipment maker Zinus has secured a contract to supply shore charging infrastructure for Barangaroo Wharf in Sydney, Australia. Under the contract, Zinus will supply a fully autonomous direct current (DC) charging tower to support vessel electrification at the wharf. The contract was awarded by UGL Transport, with the end customer being Transport for New South Wales (NSW). Illustration of the planned electric charging station at Barangaroo wharf. NSW government Shore-to-ship power, or “cold ironing”, is an electrical power supply provided to ships when they are docked at ports. Instead of running the engines onboard to power the essential systems while docked at ports, shore power facilities allow ships to connect to the local electrical grid.
