Hapag-Lloyd has reopened bookings to and from Upper Gulf destinations, using inland transport and third-party feeder services that avoid the Strait of Hormuz. The revised routing covers cargo moving to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. Cargo bound for the UAE will be transshipped via Fujairah or Khorfakkan before reaching its final destination by landbridge. Shipments to Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar and Bahrain will also move through Fujairah or Khorfakkan. Cargo will then travel by landbridge to Jebel Ali or Sharjah, where it will connect to the intra-Gulf feeder network. Cargo destined for Dammam and Jubail will continue to use the existing Jeddah landbridge solution. Hapag-Lloyd noted that feeder services will not operate on a fixed weekly schedule and will remain subject to regional safety conditions. The carrier said bonded transport between Fujairah/Khorfakkan and Jebel Ali/Sharjah is expected to take around five days. The company also confirmed that its Carrier’s Haulage service via Jeddah remains suspended for cross-border movements to the Upper Gulf until further notice. The restriction also applies to cargo booked under Merchant’s Haulage from Jeddah for consignees outside Saudi Arabia.
