FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin The Panama Canal Authority announced on September 4, 2026, that it would postpone a planned reduction in the maximum authorized draft for vessels transiting the Neopanamax Locks, allowing ships to continue operating under the existing 14.63-meter (48.0-foot) Tropical Fresh Water (TFW) limit. The Canal had previously announced that the maximum draft would be reduced to 14.48 meters (47.5 feet) TFW from October 1, 2026. The adjustment has now been postponed following the Canal’s latest assessment of Gatun Lake water levels and weather projections.
