India’s state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) reported a fire on its SHP offshore platform on the Mumbai High oil field on Friday evening, leaving 10 workers with minor injuries. The incident occurred around 5:45 pm local time at ONGC’s field, located some 160 km off the Mumbai coast. ONGC said via its social media channels that emergency measures were activated and that its response teams contained and extinguished the blaze before it spread. The company has not specified whether production volumes were affected during the short disruption, but operations have resumed normal output levels. According to ONGC, the injured personnel were given immediate medical attention and are all in stable condition. “Ten personnel sustained minor injuries and are under medical care. All are stable,” the company said via X. The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed, and ONGC said it will provide further details once its internal investigation is complete. The Mumbai High field was discovered in February 1974 and started production on May 21, 1976. It accounts for almost 25% of India’s production.
