Thissignificantstepfollowsthesuccessful completionofa comprehensiveauditprocessandthesubsequentunanimous acceptancebytheMedMoUCommittee. PRESS RELEASE Albania Joins the Mediterranean MoU as a Full Member Date Release: 11 January,2026 AnauditpanelcomprisingexpertsfromJordan,Malta,andTunisia,ledbyMr. RachedBENMOHAMED,conducteda thoroughreviewofAlbania'smaritime administrationinMay2025.Theauditidentifiedareasforenhancementto ensurefullalignmentwiththeMemorandum'sstringentprovisions.The Albanianauthoritiesdemonstrateda steadfastcommitmenttomaritimesafety andsecuritybypromptlyimplementingallnecessarycorrectiveactions. Followingapositivereviewofthesemeasures,theCommitteeunanimously endorsedAlbania'smembershipandauthorizedtheSecretariattofinalizethe accessionagreementbeforetheendofDecember2025.Theformalacceptance documentwasdulysignedon18December2025byH.E. Ms. BelindaBalluku, DeputyPrimeMinisterandMinisterofInfrastructureandEnergyofAlbania,on behalfoftheMaritimeAuthorityofAlbania. Mediterranean MoU on PSC Secretariat Asafullmember,Albaniawillactivelyparticipateintheregionalportstate controlregime,contributingtothecollectivemissionofeliminatingsubstandard shippingintheMediterraneanregion. Thisincludestheexchangeofinspection datathroughtheMedMoUinformationsystemandparticipationinofficer exchangeprogrammes,reinforcingregionalcooperationandharmonizationof inspectionprocedures.
