This publication outlines the plans and procedures to be put in place to prepare a ship for shore personnel to come on board and to protect seafarers from the dangers posed by COVID-19, including potential exposure to the virus from shore personnel. It also covers the actions to take in the event of a suspected case on board. The guidance should be read in conjunction with the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) publication, Coronavirus (COVID-19) Guidance for Ship Operators for the Protection of the Health of Seafarers. Albeit this document is directed toward tanker operators, it also provides valuable guidance applicable to all types of ships relevant to outbreak management planning for COVID-19.
