AUTORIDAD DEL CANAL DE PANAMÁ EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENCY FOR OPERATIONS 3654-A (OPXI) V. 4-2-2015 ADVISORY TO SHIPPING No. A-13-2016 March 23, 2016 TO: All Shipping Agents, Owners, and Operators SUBJECT: Panama Canal Locks Lane Outage and the Transit Reservation System Beginning at 2200 hours on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, until 0800 hours on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 (10 hours), the WEST lane of Gatun Locks will be out of service in order to perform repairs and trials on ACP Caisson No. 2. This outage is required to prepare the caisson for upcoming lane outages and to ensure safe conditions during locks maintenance works. As a result, and in accordance with the rules governing the Transit Reservation System (OP’s Notice to Shipping No. N-7-2016), Condition 1.a will be in effect on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. Applications for reserved transits while Condition 1.a is in effect will be received beginning at 0900 hours on Sunday, March 27, 2016. The Just-In-Time (JIT) transit slots, as well as the booking slot available through the Auction Process, and the slots available for regular vessels less than 300 feet in LOA, will continue to be offered during this period.
