Copenhagen-based chemical tanker owner Christiania Shipping is expanding its fleet with the acquisition of Navquim Holding from France’s Sogestran Shipping. The deal will see the Axel Eitzen-controlled company add 13 stainless steel chemical carriers via a share purchase transaction, which is expected to close in October. Navquim built out its fleet on the legacy of Team Tankers and Naviera Quimica fleets in Marbella and the De Poli fleet from the Netherlands. Sogestran became a 65% shareholder of De Poli Tankers in late 2020 when it contributed to the acquisition and integration of the Team Tankers’ European fleet in a market consolidation move only to fully take over the Dutch-based chemical tanker specialist in April 2022.
