FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on 20 May that it coordinated the passage of 26 commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz over 24 hours, signaling that limited maritime traffic is continuing despite ongoing regional tensions. In a statement carried by Iranian state media, the IRGC Navy said ships were allowed to transit “with permits obtained and in coordination with the IRGC Navy,” underscoring Tehran’s continued control over movements through the strait. The announcement came as Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority released a new map outlining a controlled maritime zone at both the eastern and western entrances to the Strait of Hormuz.
