Posidonia has a new record to go alongside its position as the world’s most famous shipping show. The 2026 edition of the Greek shipping showcase is set to run across nearly a month of activity, as organisers stretch the event into a three-week programme of conferences, meetings, networking, social and sporting events, making it the world’s longest shipping get-together. While Posidonia Week itself still runs from June 1 to 5, official activities will begin in early May, turning the world’s biggest shipping gathering into its longest-running one yet. All 50,000 sq m of exhibition space at the Metropolitan Expo has been sold out months in advance, with thousands of exhibitors and visitors from around 140 countries expected in Athens. Posidonia Exhibitions managing director Theodore Vokos said the show’s footprint has expanded as more business is pulled into the week surrounding the exhibition. “The economic and business impact of Posidonia now begins nearly three weeks before the official opening,” Vokos said. “With conferences, meetings and industry gatherings increasingly scheduled ahead of Posidonia Week, the overall timeframe has expanded significantly.” The conference programme will begin in early May, setting the tone for a packed calendar that builds towards Posidonia Week. Beyond the conference and exhibition halls, Splash-sponsored Posidonia’s social footprint continues to expand as the event evolves into a broader meeting point for the global maritime community. The programme once again includes a full sporting weekend ahead of the exhibition, with the Posidonia Games returning alongside sailing, football, basketball, golf and running events.
