Source: Best Oasis According to Best Oasis, “the Indian market remained highly unpredictable this week, with prices holding steady and overall sentiment staying soft amid limited activity. Buyer appetite remains firm nonetheless, supported by a steady flow of vessels arriving in India, including a notable share of dark fleet tonnage, while improved steel availability has traders looking to tighten recycling payment terms. End prices remain the same whether recycling a standard vessel or a dark fleet unit; however, with dark fleet tonnage acquired at cheaper rates, conventional recyclers are finding it increasingly hard to compete. On the policy front, the Government issued its first-ever ship recycling credit note under the new scheme, confirming the mechanism is now operational, a positive step towards strengthening India’s competitiveness as a recycling destination over the longer term. The Bangladesh market remained largely the same as last week, with conditions broadly unchanged. Following the Eid break, yards have resumed operations, though activity stays quiet for now, with no sales reported and overall buying reduced. Rates have softened alongside the slower pace of business, keeping the market subdued at present.
