CMA CGM has announced a series of freight rate and surcharge changes across several trades, effective 1 October 2026 . The measures include new Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates from the East Coast of South America. The carrier will also introduce Rate Restoration Initiatives (RRI) and Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) on other trades. New FAK rates from East Coast South America CMA CGM will apply new FAK rates from Brazil, excluding Northeast Brazil, as well as Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. The rates cover dry cargo moving to North Europe, the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Adriatic, North Africa, Middle East and Red Sea. However, terminal handling charges and safety and security-related surcharges may apply. Other local and contingency charges may also be added. Rate restoration for US and Canada trades The French carrier will also introduce updated Rate Restoration Initiatives from the West Mediterranean. For cargo from West Mediterranean ports and Morocco to the United States, CMA CGM will apply an RRI of US$250 per 20-foot container and US$500 per 40-foot, 40-foot high-cube and 45-foot container . The measure applies to all cargo except out-of-gauge shipments. CMA CGM will apply the same amounts from West Mediterranean ports to Canada. The Canadian scope includes Italy, Mediterranean Spain and Vigo, and France. Both measures take effect on 1 October. PSS introduced on Latin American trades CMA CGM will also apply new Peak Season Surcharges from Europe and the Mediterranean to several Latin American markets.
