Norwegian ocean services provider DeepOcean has marked its entry into the Guyana offshore market with a contract from ExxonMobil. The deal, which is also DeepOcean’s first major award by ExxonMobil in the Americas, will see the company execute a range of subsea activities, including construction and jumper installations as well as IMR (inspection, maintenance, and repair) work, at the Stabroek Block some 193 km offshore Guyana. DeepOcean will deploy the 2013-built multipurpose support vessel (MPSV) Siem Day to carry out the work. Financial terms surrounding the deal were not disclosed. “We consider this is a confirmation of our team’s expertise and the technical solutions we bring to the table,” said Tony Stokes, president of DeepOcean’s American operation, which will manage the work from DeepOcean’s side. The gross recoverable resource for the Stabroek Block is estimated to be more than 8bn oil equivalent barrels. ExxonMobil operates the block with a 45% stake, while partners Hess Corporation holds a 30% stake and China National Offshore Oil Corporation holds the remaining 25% stake. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsGuyana Norway
