China: Ballast Water and Sediment Regulations Publications Steamship Mutual Published: January 30, 2019 Contact author Download article pdf Image Club correspondents Huatai have published a circular outlining the new regulations now in force in China in relation to ship’s ballast and sediment. In 2018, China acceded to the International Convention on the Control and Management of Ballast Water and Sediments on Ships, and these measures came into force on 22 January 2019. They apply to all ocean going vessels operating in Chinese waters. Huatai’s circular lists the documentation ships are obliged to have and outlines some of the requirements of the Convention. Huatai explain how the matter will be regulated in China, under the supervision of the local MSA. Huatai’s circular of 30 January 2019 can be read here .
