Turkey-Pollution Fines (2019) 20 February 2019 No.1015 Tweet Download PDF (251KB) We would like to announce the latest information about the Pollution Fines of Turkey. According to the local source (OMUR MARINE), as a result of the amendments of the Environmental Code effective from 10 December 2018, the pollution fine amounts will be tripled in case the owner of the vessel is a legal entity. Furthermore, the rates to be used for imposing pollution fines have been revaluated/increased as from 1 January 2019. As per the above mentioned rules, the authorities will calculate the pollution fines based on the rates under column A herebelow and then triple the calculated amount for imposing such fine against a vessel which owner is a legal entity. However for your easy reference, we have already tripled the related rates so that the pollution fines against a vessel which owner is a legal entity can be calculated based on the rates under column B herebelow: (TL: Turkish Lira) (US$1=TL 5.28 as of 20 February 2019) Vessel Type / Pollutant Type Gross Tonnage A.
