According to Korean news sources, the Gunsan Shipyard, completed in 2010 by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, stopped building complete vessels in 2017 due to a lack of orders and has since operated only as a block production facility. The yard is now in the process of being acquired by J Ocean Heavy Industries, an entity established by Eco Prime Marine Pacific, the largest shareholder of HJ Shipbuilding & Construction.
