Image Credit: FuelTech Engineering firm FuelTech has signed a technical collaboration with Germany ’s Sunship Schiffahrtskontor KG Reederei M. Lauterjung to support the use of bio-LNG in dual-fuel ships. The agreement, signed at SMM 2026 , focuses on the maintenance and long-term performance of FuelTech’s Gas Valve Trains (GVTs), which are now operating on bio-LNG, the company said in a LinkedIn post yesterday. The partnership will give FuelTech further operational experience with bio-LNG and support the fuel’s growing use in shipping. The companies will gain operational experience with the fuel and support its wider adoption in the maritime sector. Bio-LNG is a cleaner alternative to fossil LNG and can be used as a drop-in marine fuel in LNG-fuelled ships. “We look forward to gaining valuable operational experience with Bio-LNG and contributing to its continued adoption as an increasingly important part of the maritime fuel transition – while continuing to ensure reliable and trouble-free gas-mode operation,” FuelTech said.
