Asia-Pacific Port State Control “TOKYO MOU Annual Report 2017” 29 May 2018 No. 962 Tweet Download PDF (177KB) We have obtained the Annual Report on Port State Control in the Asia-Pacific region published by Tokyo MOU . It can be accessed via the web link below.   http://www.tokyo-mou.org/doc/ANN17.pdf   According to the report, fire safety measures, safety of navigation and life – saving appliances continue to be the top three categories of deficiencies discovered on ships, representing nearly 50% of the total number of all recorded deficiencies.   It is essential for Members to be aware that deficiencies relating to labour conditions / MLC have increased year by year. Furthermore, as the Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention entered into force on 8th September 2017, it is anticipated that the number of these deficiencies will increase next year. We would urge Members to address any required management steps under the Tokyo MOU to minimize the possibility that any detainable deficiencies will occur. For further information, please click here.
