Lines (MOL) has signed a long-term time charter agreement with JERA Co., Inc. for the operation of two very large gas carriers (VLGCs) dedicated to the transport of low-carbon ammonia. Under the agreement, the vessels will transport low-carbon ammonia produced through the Blue Point Project, in which JERA has invested, to JERA’s Hekinan Thermal Power Station from around fiscal year 2029. As explained, the contract represents a key milestone in MOL’s efforts to establish a marine transportation network for low-carbon ammonia and support what is expected to become Japan’s first large-scale low-carbon ammonia transport operation.
