THE MEETING COVERED A MIX OF PLENARY SESSIONS AND WORKSHOPS. On day one members heard from anti-corruption experts Jonathan Taylor, Charles Duross, and John Smith. Jonathan Taylor discussed the importance of protecting whistle-blowers who expose corruption and misdemeanours. Morrison Foerster partners, Charles Durross and Jon Smith, covered highlights of a compliance workshop that took place in MACN’s office in April. Highlights included the latest information on current anti-corruption and sanctions frameworks, emphasising key considerations for ethical business practices. Participants then took part in breakout sessions in their country and industry segment working groups, with the day ending with an update from the MACN board. In the plenary session members heard from the IMO and MoU representatives on industry challenges and opportunities relating to Port State Control. Day two consisted of workshops on the challenges faced by different segment working groups, as well as MACN’s tools portfolio. ANNUAL REPORT 2023 3 SEA DILIGENCE MACN MEMBER PLATFORM UPDATE MACN’s member platform ‘3 Sea Diligence’ was launched in February 2023 with the aim of providing members with access to third-party due diligence and Know Your Counterparty tools, enabling companies to implement comprehensive anticorruption and anti-financial crime compliance programmes. The community can then limit the duplication of efforts and instead collaborate around due diligence. Since its launch, 42 MACN members have joined the platform and over 7,500 entries have been published on the system.
