The 145-foot U.S.-flagged vessel reported a disabled starboard engine and lost communications later that same day. Initially, there were no medical concerns, but contact was not reestablished after Wednesday evening. By April 18 to 19, search crews located an overturned vessel matching Mariana’s description about 34 nautical miles northeast of Pagan, roughly 100 nautical miles from its last known position.
