A Chinese yard has been tasked with building the world’s largest cement carrier. NovaAlgoma, the joint venture between the Italian-Swiss group Nova Marine Carriers and Canada’s Algoma Central Corporation, has ordered a 38,000 dwt ship at Zhejiang Xinle Shipbuilding in Ningbo. The vessel will be methanol dual-fuelled. Other tech on the ship due to deliver at the end of 2026 include a cold ironing system, and an air lubricating system.
