Image Credit: Acta Marine Rotterdam -based maritime support provider Acta Marine  announced the christening of its methanol dual-fuel construction service operation vessel (CSOV) this week.  The vessel, Acta Hercules , was delivered earlier this year as the second ship in Acta Marine’s four-vessel newbuild CSOV programme, the firm said in an emailed statement yesterday. It is operating under a long-term charter for Vestas , supporting offshore wind operations. It is fitted with methanol dual-fuel engines and a battery energy storage system designed to support lower-emission operations. The company has also taken delivery of Acta Pegasus and Acta Gemini , while the fourth vessel, Acta Aquarius , is expected later this year. Once Acta Aquarius is delivered, Acta Marine said its fleet will comprise seven dedicated walk-to-work and construction service operation vessels. Several shipowners have ordered vessels capable of running on methanol, with the container segment leading it.
