Argentina-Customs fines 26 July 2023 No.1230 Tweet Download PDF (812KB) We have received information from the local correspondent in Argentina, Simonsen, with regard to the subject matter. For more details, please find their circular attached.   One of the most common claims reported in Argentina is an issue related to the customs fines demanded by the customs officers during visits by the Argentina Customs Search Gang. These fines often stem from alleged discrepancies between the store list presented upon vessel arrival and the findings of the search gangs.   An example of this is that lubricant oil in the sump tank (i.e., used oil) is erroneously considered a target of declaration. In cases where a discrepancy exists between the declared figure and the actual amount, the Customs Authorities may impose fines on the vessel/ shipowners for infringing upon the Customs Code.   If you have any plans to call ports in Argentina, please be cautious to this point.
