Hapag-Lloyd will revise its West Africa Express (WAX) service from September 2026, introducing a direct connection between Damietta and key West African ports. The updated service will connect the Mediterranean, Türkiye and West Africa through a revised port rotation. Damietta gains direct West Africa connection Under the new setup, Hapag-Lloyd will offer direct connections from Damietta and Valencia to key West African ports and vice versa . Damietta will also provide connections with other Hapag-Lloyd services calling at the Egyptian port. The revised WAX service will offer a direct connection from Türkiye to Valencia . Meanwhile, Casablanca will be covered through a separate feeder service, with cargo connecting via Valencia. Hapag-Lloyd said the changes will provide greater operational flexibility and improve schedule reliability. New WAX rotation The revised rotation will be: Damietta – Izmit – Gemlik – Istanbul – Valencia – Tangier – Lagos (Tincan/Apapa) – Onne – Cotonou – Tema – Lome – Tangier – Barcelona – Damietta The first announced sailing under the revised setup will be the Merkur Ocean voyage 2639S , with an estimated arrival in Damietta on 21 September 2026 .
