FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin The US Coast Guard (USCG) has determined that Haiti is not maintaining effective anti-terrorism measures in its ports, triggering additional security requirements for commercial vessels arriving in the United States after calling at Haitian ports. Under the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 (MTSA), the USCG is required to assess the effectiveness of anti-terrorism measures at foreign commercial ports. Where such measures are considered inadequate, the Coast Guard may impose conditions of entry on vessels arriving from those locations in order to protect US ports and waters.
