Tsuneishi Shipbuilding delivers third methanol capable boxship in International Shipping News 22/06/2026 Japan’s Tsuneishi Shipbuilding said it has delivered its third methanol dual-fuel 5,900 TEU container vessel. The vessel can run both on methanol as well as conventional marine fuels. The shipbuilder has not disclosed the name of the shipowner, but from a picture released with the statement, the vessel owner appears to be A.P. Moller – Maersk. Tsuneishi launched two 5,900 TEU dual fuel methanol container ships in August and October last year. There are currently 138 methanol-capable vessels in operation globally, and the global methanol-capable vessel orderbook stands at 317 additional vessels scheduled for delivery through 2030, according to DNV data. The container ship sector lead both by number of methanol-capable vessels in operation (77) and by number of additional orders towards 2030 (173), the DNV data shows.
