The maritime industry is undergoing a major transformation, driven by fleet renewal, decarbonization, and the shift toward more technically complex vessels. Preparing future naval architects and engineers with the right skills and digital tools is essential to meet these challenges. To support this, NAPA has partnered with two leading U.S. maritime institutions : University of Michigan – Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering Department Texas A&M University – Ocean Engineering Department Through these collaborations, students gain hands-on experience with NAPA’s advanced ship design solutions – tools trusted by leading shipbuilders worldwide. By integrating NAPA’s ship design ecosystem into their curriculum, including 3D modeling, stability analysis, and structural design, our academic partners aim to prepare graduates for the growing role these modern technologies will play in the future of U.S. shipbuilding. Strengthening U.S.–Finland maritime collaboration This initiative not only advances education but also reflects the deepening maritime collaboration between the U.S. and Finland – two nations committed to innovation at sea. At NAPA, we have long supported the Finnish maritime ecosystem in designing some of the world’s most complex vessels, from advanced icebreakers to large cruise ships. These projects have demonstrated the critical role of digital tools in tackling engineering challenges and driving efficiency.
