The Port of Los Angeles has issued a request for proposals for its Zero-Emission Truck Purchasing Incentive Project, making US$ 75 million available to Licensed Motor Carriers registered in the Port Drayage Truck Registry for the purchase of battery-electric Class 8 drayage trucks. Eligible applicants must commit to purchasing a minimum of 10 vehicles. The incentive provides up to USD 300,000 per battery-electric truck, with a maximum award of US$ 24 million per Licensed Motor Carrier. Funding is structured as USD 50 million from the US EPA Clean Ports Program grant award and US$ 25 million from the Port’s Clean Truck Fund Rate. Contracting questions may be submitted through July 20, with proposals due by December 3. The Zero-Emission Truck Purchasing Incentive Project forms part of a broader US$ 600 million programme under the US EPA Clean Ports Program, in which the Port of Los Angeles and the Harbor Community Benefit Foundation are collaborating with marine terminal operator partners APM Terminals, Everport Terminal Services, Fenix Marine Services, TraPac and Yusen Terminals to fund projects supporting the transition to 100 percent zero-emission terminal operations while fostering high-quality jobs and public engagement.
