Malaysian offshore vessel owner Keyfield International has moved to further reshape its fleet with the sale of a six-year-old accommodation workboat to a Bruneian buyer. The company said its subsidiary Keyfield Resolute has signed a deal to sell the DP2 accommodation workboat Keyfield Compassion to Petro Laut, part of Brunei’s Mashhor Group, for $36.8m. Keyfield CEO Dato’ Darren Kee Chit Huei said the disposal allows the company to unlock value from the vessel, adding that the sale will generate around RM85m (about $18m) in profit after tax. The latest move continues a busy year of fleet changes for the Kuala Lumpur-based company. Earlier in 2025, Keyfield sold the 2014-built workboat Keyfield Lestari for $12.5m to India’s Saraf Corporation, and in September acquired the nine-year-old accommodation workboat Carimin Acacia from Carimin Petroleum for RM76m ($18m). “While CPS has generated operational profits for Keyfield since 2022 when we acquired her, the disposal comes at an opportune time,” he said. “We recently completed the acquisition of Carimin Acacia — now Keyfield Harmony — and we signed a shipbuilding contract for a new DP2 workboat earlier this year. These moves ensure we retain a steady pipeline of suitable AWBs for our customers.” He added that sale proceeds will be channelled into future fleet expansion, and the company intends to distribute part of the gains as dividends once the transaction completes. Keyfield, founded in 2013, is one of Malaysia’s largest owners of self-propelled accommodation workboats.
