John T. Essberger GmbH & Co. KG has exercised an option for two additional 7,900 dwt chemical tankers, expanding its newbuilding programme to a total of eight vessels as part of its long-term fleet renewal strategy. The latest order follows the company’s announcement in December 2025, when it placed an order for up to six chemical tankers at China Merchants Industry Yangzhou Dingheng. With the newly exercised option, the orderbook now comprises four 7,900 dwt vessels and four 13,800 dwt vessels. Deliveries are scheduled between mid-2027 and September 2029, with the first 7,900 dwt vessel expected to be delivered in the second half of 2028. The company said the newbuildings are intended to strengthen its position in the European chemical tanker market while supporting high standards of safety, reliability, environmental performance and operational efficiency. John T. Essberger added that the investment reflects its confidence in the long-term outlook of the business and its continued commitment to customers, employees and sustainable growth.
