However, the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock, Supply, and Rural Development (CAPADR) of the Chamber of Deputies requested the suspension of the process regarding the revision of the official soybean classification standard, at the request of the producers of this product.Entities representing farmers point out that, for grain drying to take place, it requires more investments in herbicides, energy, and this increases the product’s price.For more information on the proposed changes, please read Brazil P&I’s article here.20 February 2024Proinde P&I advise that while most of the changes have been generally welcomed, producers are strongly opposed to lowering the moisture content limit of the oilseed to 13%, and discussions have reached a stalemate.Read more here.3 August 2023The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture is proposing amendments to the soya bean grading standards, which includes a reduction in the current moisture content limit.NorthStandard correspondent Proinde P&I has issued a bulletin outlining some of the changes proposed to the current Brazilian soya bean regulations which are contained within the Ministry’s ‘Normative Instruction’ (IN) 11/2007.IN 11/2007 sets out the requirements for determining identity and quality as well as regulating cargo inspection, sampling and testing methods.Due to the ever-increasing export of soya beans from the region, and its projected growth going forward, revisions to the standard are proposed to bring the domestic standards closer to international standards.
