Class society DNV has signed a two-year contract with South Korea’s wind developer Kolon Global Corporation to provide owner’s engineering services for the 400MW Wando Jangbogo offshore wind farm. With an estimated investment of KRW 2.6trn ($1.85bn), the Wando Jangbogo project stands among the largest offshore wind initiatives in South Korea to date. The project is being jointly developed by public sector developers Korea Western Power Corporation and Jeonnam Development Corporation, in partnership with Kolon Global. DNV’s scope as owner’s engineer includes technical advisory services focused on turbine selection, one of the most critical early-phase decisions in offshore wind. This also includes project management support, tender preparation, bid evaluation, and contract negotiation. “The partnership reflects a step-change in scale and ambition, from earlier onshore wind collaborations to a complex, large-scale offshore development,” said Young Hee Moon, Korea manager for renewables and energy systems at DNV. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsNorway Offshore Wind South Korea
