Brazilian state-owned Petrobras has awarded Norwegian offshore vessel owner DOF with long-term contracts for one pipelay support vessel and one anchor handler. The Brazilian-built and flagged PLSV Skandi Niterói was awarded a three-year firm contract which includes extension options. The deal will start in 2025. The vessel is owned by DOFCON Navegação, a 50/50 joint venture between DOF Subsea and TechnipFMC. Another Brazilian-built and flagged vessel, the Skandi Botafogo AHTS, currently contracted by Petrobras until the first quarter of 2025, was given a four-year firm deal with a one-year option set to begin in 2025 in sequence to the current contract. Before the start of the contract, the vessel will have a work-class ROV installed on board and will be identical to the specifications of the Skandi Amazonas and Skandi Rio which won deals with Petrobras earlier this year. No financial details were revealed except DOF stating that the contract for the PLSV was considered a ‘major contract’ while the AHTS deal was seen as ‘a very large’ contract. A major contract for DOF is worth between $200m and $300m while a very large one is between $100m and $200m. “[Another] award for our PLSV fleet in Brazil and the AHTS contract builds backlog into the second quarter of 2029.
