File Image / Pixabay Gas shipping firm Capital Clean Energy Carriers (CCEC) and container shipping company CMA CGM have formed a joint venture to build and operate an LNG bunkering vessel. The new company will be owned equally by the two firms and will oversee the construction, chartering and operation of a 20,000 m3 dual-fuel LNG bunkering vessel, CCEC said in a press release on Friday .  The joint venture has ordered the vessel from China's Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering for $82.8 million , with delivery scheduled for the third quarter of 2028 . The vessel will be CCEC's first dedicated marine fuel supply ship, marking the company's entry into the LNG bunkering market. Once delivered, the vessel is expected to operate under a 12-year time charter with a joint venture between CMA CGM and the French energy company TotalEnergies . “This joint venture marks CCEC’s entry into LNG bunkering — a natural extension of our gas platform from carriage into marine fuel supply,” Jerry Kalogiratos , CEO of CCEC, said. CMA CGM already operates a fleet of container ships capable of running on LNG. Last month, the company took delivery of its 24,212 TEU capacity dual-fuel LNG container ship . The new bunkering vessel comes as the number of LNG-fuelled ships continues to grow, increasing demand for LNG marine fuel supply infrastructure worldwide. Ship & Bunker New
