Amidst severe regional port congestion, container vessel schedule reliability in Asia dropped to 32.3% in August 2026, with the average delay for late vessel arrivals rising to 7.28 days. Source: Sea-Intelligence.com, Sunday Spotlight, issue 784 Figure 1 shows the country‑level vessel arrival schedule reliability for both July and August 2026, along with the Y/Y changes in each month. For nearly all countries, schedule reliability in August was lower than an already poor July, with the M/M declines ranging from ‑5.9 percentage points (pp) in Vietnam to ‑13.1 pp in South Korea. This shows that congestion is not a localised issue but is spread region‑wide. Thailand was the only country not to record a M/M decline in August, with its August 2026 figure 3.0 pp higher M/M. China was the most impacted in August, with the vessel schedule reliability in the country dropping to just 23.9%. Shanghai and Ningbo, which are the two largest ports in the country, saw their schedule reliability plummet to 12.2% and 16.9%, respectively.
