US crop planting nearly complete as corn reaches 97% with soybeans at 92% in Commodity News 11/06/2026 US farmers have completed 97% of corn plantings with soybeans at 92%, according to the latest US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Crop Progress Report. Although wet weather has challenged growers over early June, the current rate of finished sowings is above both the 2025 level of 96% and the five-year average of 96%. All the states surveyed are past the 90% completion mark, except for Ohio at 89% and Pennsylvania at 70%. For corn emerged, there is 86% of the crop now out of the ground, which is equal to both the 86% level in 2025 and the five-year average of 86%. On corn conditions, the update showed there is still 1% rated as very poor with poor increased to 5%, and the amount fair lower at 27%. The crop listed as good decreased to 55% with those rated excellent increased to 12%. Soybeans plantings are now 92% completed, which is ahead of the 89% rate from last season and the five-year average of 88%. Louisiana remains the leading state at 99% planted, followed by Minnesota at 98%. Soybeans emerged are now at 79%, which is above the 73% level from last year and the five-year average of 71%. For soybean conditions, the update still has 1% as very poor with amount deemed poor up to 5%. There continues to be 29% listed as fair, with the crops ranked as good down to 56% and 9% remains as excellent. Cotton plantings are now 77% finished, with sorghum at 53% and spring wheat at 98%. Winter wheat harvest is 11% concluded, which is underway at a faster pace than the 4% achieved in 2025 and it is also above the five-year average of 6%.
