Greece’s Maran Gas Maritime has returned to South Korea’s Hanwha Ocean with an order for two new LNG carriers. Shipbuilding sources say the Angelicoussis-controlled owner has booked a pair of 174,000 cu m vessels, with a combined price tag of about $505m. Delivery is lined up for May 2029. The latest deal keeps the Maria Angelicoussis-led unit firmly in expansion mode in the LNG segment, with more than 15 newbuilds booked at Hanwha Ocean since late 2021. The relationship between the two companies stretches back decades. The wider Angelicoussis Shipping Group has placed orders for more than 120 vessels at the Korean yard — formerly DSME — since 1994, making it one of its most loyal clients. Hanwha Ocean, meanwhile, continues to stack up orders across segments.
