Built by CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding in cooperation with China Shipbuilding Trading Co. (CSTC), the vessels were designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (CSSC-SDARI), with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) providing classification and technical guidance.
