On the morning of March 2, 2026, the US-flagged tanker Stena Imperative was struck by two projectiles while in the shipyard in Bahrain. The attack caused a fire on board and killed one dockworker and injured two others. The fire was extinguished and the American crew evacuated the ship. At the Strait of Hormuz, ships remain on either side as War Risk Insurance is renegotiated by the shipping companies to allow the resumption of voyages through the Strait.
